From I-75:

What do I do when a death occurs?

  1. A call to National Cremation Society (248) 874-1953 is all that is needed to start the complete process, from anywhere in the world.
  2. We dispatch our professionally trained and compassionate first care responders to transport the deceased from place of death to our licensed climate controlled care center.
  3. Families are contacted in a timely manner after a death and information is gathered to initiate and coordinate the cremation.
  4. A Completed Death Certificate, County Medical Examiner Cremation Permit, and the Family Cremation Authorizations must be completed according to Michigan State Law before cremation can take place. These documents are usually completed in 2-3 business days.
  5. Once our staff has received the necessary authorizations and documents have been properly signed, the cremation will take place
  6. The cremated remains will be delivered to our office and transferred into the urn or keepsakes selected by the family. The funeral director will discuss with the family a time to release the urn. If shipping or delivery is requested, allow 1- 2 additional days.

If preferred we can complete all necessary paperwork via phone or email. In certain circumstances it may be necessary to meet with the funeral director at the office or at your home, to accommodate specific wishes.

National Cremation Society Bloomfield Hills, MI Participates in Senior Power Day 2016

Seniors arrived in busloads to Crossroads Village, Wednesday May 25th for its annual Senior Power Day. It was estimated that over 2,000 seniors came out to visit the historic village in Genesee County. They had an opportunity to learn about products and services geared towards seniors from the many vendors that participated in the event. Not only did they get bags of giveaway goodies, they also enjoyed lunch, entertainment, old fashion rides on a beautiful sunny day. Senior Power Day is made possible through local sponsors, Genesee County Parks and the Valley Area Agency on Aging.



National Cremation Society Bloomfield Hills, MI - Mother's Day at the Local VFW

National Cremation Society- Bloomfield Hills, MI volunteered at local VFW post serving breakfast to several hundred people on Mother’s Day. Volunteers at the local VFW prepared and served an all you can eat breakfast to the community on Mother’s Day morning. To honor the women in our life, all mothers ate for free. It gave a chance for families to gather together to celebrate their Moms and support the VFW post.



Chamber of Commerce Business Expo

Maryann McConnell, National Cremation Society of Bloomfield’s Service Manager, recently participated in Fenton’s Annual Community Business Expo. Every year thousands of visitors, volunteers, and businesses come together for one big weekend of community fellowship and education at the Fenton Community Expo. It is one of the longest-standing business expositions in the state of Michigan.



Adopt-A-Pet Bottle Drive

Maryann McConnell of National Cremation Society in Bloomfield Hills, participated in a bottle drive to help raise money to donate to a local animal care center, Adopt-A-Pet.

During or after the arrangement process, families have spoken to Maryann about the pets left behind after their loved one’s death. They have expressed concern on what they were going to do with them. Some families do not have the resources or abilities to care for the animals. I discovered that Adopt-A-Pet is a great resource to help families in their time of need.

Adopt-A-Pet is committed to helping people and animals in need. Their mission is to provide a means to place unwanted, adoptable animals into homes. Adopt-A-Pet is a non-profit, animal center in Fenton. Included on the grounds is a memorial garden “Just This Side of Heaven”, an agility course and play areas for the dogs. There are several ways a person can help Adopt-A-Pet, whether it's giving of your time, resources or a monetary donation. It all helps!



Water Donation to American Red Cross

Maryann McConnell, Location Manager for National Cremation Society in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, contributed over 1000 bottles of water to the American Red Cross to help the city of Flint’s families in need of clean water. The office took their water donations to a collection site, where thousands of cases of water are stored, until volunteers are ready to deliver them to Flint’s residents. A state of emergency has been declared in Flint, Michigan due to contamination of the city’s water supply. The public health crisis started when the water supply was switched in 2014 from Lake Huron to the Flint River to save money. Thousands of residents have been exposed to toxic amounts of lead and other contaminates.



Remembrance Gathering

The National Cremation Society in Bloomfield Hills, MI hosted a Remembrance Gathering to honor loved ones who have passed away on December 9, 2015 from 11AM-2PM. Our office requested that guests bring in a toy for the Toys for Tots campaign in memory of their loved ones, and was able to collect several gifts for charity. Coffee and desserts were also available and a special ornament was given to those in attendance.



Great Lakes National Cemetery Advisory Council 11th Annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony

The National Cremation Society in Bloomfield Hills, MI took part in the Great Lakes National Cemetery Advisory Council's 11th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11, 2015. Maryann McConnell, service manager, volunteered by setting up chairs, passing out programs, and greeting people at the event.



Chamber of Commerce Vine and Dine Event

Maryann McConnell, National Cremation Society of Bloomfield's service manager recently participated in the local Chamber of Commerce Vine and Dine event, with all proceeds going to a local Michigan food bank.



Rosehaven Senior Health Fair

Maryann McConnell, Service Manager for National Cremation Society in Bloomfield Hills, participated in the annual Senior Health Fair hosted by Rosehaven Manor in Flint, Michigan on October 20, 2017. Every year residents and the surrounding communities are invited to attend this great event. Attendees were able to visit with many agencies that provide services to seniors and their families. Vendors provided guest with a surplus of resources, information, samples and treats to all those who attended. A drawing was held for door prizes donated by all the agencies. 1st Annual Witches Night Out

Maryann McConnell, Service Manager of National Cremation Society in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, participated in the 1st Annual Witches Night Out – Fowlerville. This spooktacular charity event was a ladies night, bringing awareness to Melanoma: the deadliest form of skin cancer, as well as raising charitable dollars to help support Melanoma Research and patient support. Beneficiaries of this year’s event will be U of M Comprehensive Cancer Center Melanoma Patient Fund, and Melanoma Research Foundation.
