National Cremation Society in Jacksonville, FL is partnering with Azalea Health to sponsor Golf Fore Health and Wellness Day on January 17^th from 10am to 2pm at River Bend Golf Links.

National Cremation Society in Jacksonville and Azalea Health are the co-sponsors of this event. Azalea Health will be offering free health screenings. Additionally, they will be sharing helpful health tips and teaching useful massage techniques. The team from National Cremation Society in Jacksonville will be there to answer all of your questions regarding preplanning final arrangements.

“We got together with Azalea Health, and brainstormed on how we could work together”, said National Cremation Society Jacksonville Sales Manager, Laurie Levine. “We wanted to spread awareness about our businesses, but we also wanted to do something fun and engaging with our community. Hopefully this event will be enjoyable for everyone!”

You can enjoy a beautiful day on the greens with a Golf 101 Seminar instructed by Rhonda Ferguson (PGA/LPGA) and Troy Albers (PGA). They will be teaching techniques to improve your short game, putting, and full swing. There are three available time slots at 10:00am, 11:15am, and 12:30pm. The seminar is free, but availability is on a first come, first serve basis. Be sure to reserve your slot for this expert-led golf course. Attendees will be entered into raffles, and prize drawings will be held all throughout the day.

National Cremation Society and Azalea Health aren’t the only businesses involved in the Golf Fore Health and Wellness Day. Bon Worth Clothing will have a pop-up mobile store. Florida First Care and elder law attorney William O’Leary will be in attendance, as well.

There are no words to sufficiently convey my feelings about the Company and the employees. I live 1,000 miles from Sarasota. My daughter died unexpectedly there a little over a week ago. I am under quarantine for medical reasons and have not been out since mid-March.

This is the second time in five months National Cremation Society, and specifically, Maryann McConnell, have assisted us through a very sad and devastating time. We lost my father-in-law and mother-in-law in a span of five months. 10+ years ago they told us that they had prearranged everything for when each of them died and we would not have to worry about anything. At the time, we did not want to discuss it. But when the time came in July and then again late December, they were right. We did not have to worry about anything except making minor decisions. Our loved ones were picked up with much care and dignity within an hour or so of their passing. We were treated very kindly and considerately. Maryann called the following morning and explained everything that she was going to take care of and what few decisions we had to make – all of which she helped us with every step of the way.

They gave us a final opportunity to say good-bye and gave us all of the information as to where his body would be transported. From that point on, we communicated with Maryann McConnell, who epitomizes customer service. Not only was she compassionate and empathetic as we went through the process of making final decisions. She sent over other options for the urn and we purchased a beautiful companion urn, "The Dance of Life", that was so symbolic of their life as dance partners. The process was completed within a week and we were able to have a beautiful funeral mass commemorating his memory. We are very grateful for the services of NCS. And, a special thank you to Maryann. The National Cremation Society was selected by my mother many years ago while she was living in Florida. Having moved her to the Atlanta area in 2012, we notified the Atlanta office of the change and they were most cordial. When mom passed this June, all arrangements were professionally handled from pick-up through cremation. About 1 1/2 years ago, I contracted with you for end-of-life services and cremation with you for myself and my daughter, Erica, who was in special care in the Dallas area. I had provided her caregivers with your card, just in case. Then on January 12, 2019, Erica Unexpectedly passed away. I began to try to “take care of things.” But the hospital staff had been given your card, and each step I took, your staff was one or two ahead of me!
Reymundo Torres called me and walked me through the steps of caring for Erica’s remains. Except for signing papers at intervals and paying the balance owed, Rey took care of everything. Not everything went smoothly, but Rey made it seem smooth. Obviously, he is very experienced and knew how to overcome any obstacles. He kept me updated every step of the way. I was unable to get to Dallas physically, but I didn’t need to, Rey took care of everything, making everything as convenient for me as possible.
Throughout everything, Rey caringly counseled me, listened to my concerns and stories, and comforted me. In fact, he was the only one who did. He demonstrated more care for me than my family did. I consider him A1 in all aspects of end of life care. I did not expect so much from a cremation service as if it were a funeral home. I was wrong. I could not have received better services from anyone!
I am happy to tell my daughter, that when my time comes, call “The Number” and she, and I, will be well taken care of.

After the unexpected death of a family member, we were overwhelmed with the process of laying her to rest. Like anyone on a budget, I started calling around to get prices. It felt like an insensitive thing to do but cremation/burials is a competitive business, and believe me, the costs are startling. But then I called Oviedo’s National Cremation & Burial Society and their direct cremation option were surprisingly affordable – literally thousands less than the other local providers. Our family member made it known she wanted her ashes scattered at sea so a direct cremation worked for us. They even had biodegradable urns for sea burials. I had made my decision. Elizabeth Franco was the service manager who held our hands through this distressing time. She was kind, informative, and efficient. She maintained communication with us throughout the process and ensured we knew about all the keepsakes/services that their business provides to help preserve a memory. When we opted in, she offered guidance. When we opted out, she didn’t push. She replaced our stress with a sense of calm and that in itself was priceless. Elizabeth exemplifies what it means to serve during a time of crisis and hardship. I highly recommend Elizabeth and National Cremation & Burial Society.

Working with him sure turned out to be pleasant as we had to change the appt time because we were running late. Randy worked with us and even rearranged his own schedule to accommodate us. When we entered his office, we were made to feel comfortable by his offerings of coffee and water as we settled in. Randy proceeded to explain the entire cremation process from start to finish. We had so many questions and easily went over our time slot but was never made to feel rushed. I feel like Randy had a checklist in his head of things he wanted to make sure we were aware of and also took the time to make sure we had the answers to things we didn’t think of. This included the Death Certificates. Randy took care of that too.

Our experience was a very positive one at a not so great time. I believe working with Randy provided a level of comfort we needed at a difficult time.

But having the services of National Cremation has made this process so easy I am considering taking part myself. When we picked up dad’s cremains, the only thing we had to pay for was a $10 disposition review fee (because my father passed away at Madigan in Pierce County) and 5 death certificates (Department of Health charges $20 for each and Justine took care of ordering them – another plus). In a very difficult and emotional time of my life, Randy was both professional and compassionate. He accommodated me by meeting on Saturday when their office is normally closed. He did not try to take advantage of my emotional state and up-sell me things I really did not need. He let me know that it could take between 10 to 15 days for the cremation and the spreading the ashes at sea to be completed, after which we would receive the certificate indicating when the ashes were spread. My experience was fantastic this time and better than I had expected. My father passed and I had never actually had to put the service together myself. I walked in, not knowing anything, and I spoke with Jeffrey. He was amazing, basically held my hand, and did everything possible. My mother and the rest of the family were so pleased with his professionalism and his absolute kindness in dealing with the whole thing. He handled A to Z and everything we could possibly imagine. This isn’t an easy review to write nor one that I want to spend much time on given the circumstances and my feelings about it (still quite raw), but the funeral director, Randy, asked us several times to review him, so here it is. Plus, if it helps someone else during a tough time to be able to know what the expect, it’s worth it, so I hope this review helps someone else.

My mom passed away about 2 weeks ago. We knew it was coming and wanted to make arrangements ahead of time to ease the process, so I filled out an online request form for information and the next day I received a phone call from the pre-arrangement gentleman offering to come out and meet me at a location of my choice to make the arrangements. It was a simple process, despite the load of paperwork, and he was very helpful with a good demeanor. At the end of that meeting, he gave me some cards to give hospice care so that when my mom did pass, it was one phone call to them and it would be taken care of. The cost of everything was about $1800.

The next day, I discovered that my mom had passed. I called the number on the card and they said they’d be out there within 1-2 hours for the body and that someone would call me the next morning to make the additional arrangements. I actually received a phone call later that afternoon from the funeral director, Randy, offering his condolences and inquiring as to what would be a good time for him to either call or set up an appointment the next day. We gave him a time for the next day and met him there.

Again, the process was as simple as something like that can be. We were obviously not in a good place and made some mistakes with permit information, but Randy was very patient and continued to re-do the paperwork until we got it correct. He let us know that the cremation would most likely be 5-14 days away and that the death certificates could be additional time. He would call us when it was time to pick up the ashes.

About 10 days later I received a call from Randy letting me know the remains were ready to pick up. I asked to pick them up that weekend and he said although they were closed Sat-Sun, he would be willing to meet me there Saturday morning if that worked best for me which it did. We met Sat. morning, signed the last few papers and were on our way. He also had received the death certificates by that time which was, convenient, for lack of a better word.

There’s no good reason to go somewhere like NCS. No matter what, it’s a bad situation, but I felt comfortable with the service they provided me, and given the terrible circumstances, I would most likely use their services again. I felt Randy and his staff do the best they can in these situations and it’s definitely not a job I could ever do. I was happy with the service given a terrible situation. I would recommend them if asked.

National Cremation Service was excellent. They picked up my father the day after he passed away. You can call NCS at any time of day. The cremation did take a little longer than it did with my mother 4 years ago, but it made it easier to plan services because there was no rush. My parents contracted with NCS many years ago, so my out of pocket expenses were only for the death certificates. NCS had copies of the contract, and so did I. NCS encouraged me to pick up both urns (purchased at the cemetery, not NCS. I am glad I did because the cemetery no longer had the urn that my parents had purchased. Also, NCS prices for the urns are much better than the cemetery’s prices. I was fortunate to work with the same people for both my parents, even though their deaths were 3 years apart. I would use this service again and I would encourage anyone who wants to be cremated to plan ahead.

After everything was said and done, and when we already had my dad’s remains, she called just to see how we were doing to see if we had any more questions which I found to be absolutely beyond my expectations. So we had a woman come and chat with me and my mom about the end times and how you could pay ahead. We did the paperwork, made the phone call, and then National Cremation took care of it all.

When my mom passed away at a facility, a gentleman showed up within minutes and they whisked me out of the room because some hospice was there. Still, they were very careful not to make me feel like something weird was happening. I was still in shock of my mom passing right in front of me and they have the empathy and ability to show care and concern. It wasn’t made up or condescending. They have the most wonderful people ever, and the person who took care of me was so compassionate while I was having a meltdown. Her name was Barbara and she did the paperwork while I was bursting into tears.

During that time, she didn’t make me feel like I’m stupid or what. In fact, I felt that my mom went out with dignity with what she did. National made the transition for me easy. They even have something that they do, like the twelve stages of grieving, which was very helpful for me, that I wasn’t expecting. In closing, it’s been a big pleasure working with National. I would tell anybody who is thinking whether they’re gonna be buried or cremated about them.

Jeffrey Testerman is second to none in his field! Caring, compassionate, and kind are words that come to mind when thinking of his helping our family. I have formerly dealt with funeral directors and was surprised that Mr. Testerman did not push extra items to be sold for my husband’s burial. He merely pointed them out and left the decisions entirely to our family. Up north, I remember my husband’s mother’s dress was at a cost of $400! Her children were in a very difficult stage of grieving and agreed to everything the funeral director had put in front of them. I admired his courteous and pleasant mannerism throughout my dealings with him.
I was also impressed with the way National Cremation handled my husband’s exiting from the ER room. They did NOT slide him in a body bag! They covered him with a soft blue blanket and draped an American flag on top of his body. Workers in the ER who were not busy lined up and some ex-military saluted him. What a dignified way for a Korean War Veteran to exit the ER!!! Some of my friends’ husbands who were there with me were amazed at this gesture. They had also signed up with other cremation businesses and asked their wives if they also had the same procedure in place. They were not sure that gesture was in place.
Since my husband’s demise, I have been in contact with Mr. Testerman and he has always gotten back to me and answered any questions that I had. I did order additional prayer cards and they were delivered before I left for NJ. Mr. Testerman assured me of a smooth operation and he did comply in all aspects of the funeral directive. I would highly recommend Mr. Testerman and National Cremation for their caring and kindness. Having signed up ahead of time, I feel that I made this a little easier for me and my family at a time when things could have been really difficult.

Ms. ** handled all aspects of needed services including setting up military honors at the National Cremation. There were opportunities for additional items (urns, pendants, etc) but there was no pressure to buy which was greatly appreciated.
