National Cremation and Burial Society Fort Myers, FL Serves Over 200 Meals to Families Displaced by Hurricane Irma

On Monday, September 25th, National Cremation and Burial Society in Fort Myers, FL served a community facing devastation from Hurricane Irma by preparing over 200 hot meals for the residents of Citrus Park, FL.

The National Cremation and Burial Society (NCBS) Fort Myers team including Jeff Dellatto, Pete DiPaolo, Mykol Figaroa, Marie Hughes, Steve Kittle, Joe Levin, Michelle Levin, Bonnie McCarthy, and Joe Melillo, organized efforts to help a community facing large scale destruction from Hurricane Irma. The office notified one of their contacts in Citrus Park that they would be providing food and drinks for the community. The staff prepared a menu of fresh baked ziti, meatballs, salad, rolls, and cold beverages. Just outside the Citrus Park clubhouse, NCBS staff set up two tents with the food and cutlery, and served over 200 displaced residents with a warm meal.

“We were there for many hours,” said NCBS sales representative Peter DiPaolo. “The destruction was heartbreaking for those poor people. But they were very grateful to us and couldn’t thank us enough, saying how much a warm meal meant to them.”

Severe flooding and power outages, along with the destruction of manufactured homes, wreaked havoc on Citrus Park, FL. Many of these residents had already purchased prearrangement cremation plans with NCBS Fort Myers, and the office saw an opportunity to give back to the community that was harshly impacted by Hurricane Irma. The NCBS Fort Myers location was also affected by Irma. The office was out of power for a week, and faced severe water damage. This type of damage has been felt all across Florida. Over 27,000 members of utility crew are working to restore power, and for many that restoration cannot come soon enough.

National Cremation Society is the oldest and largest cremation provider in the nation. Founded in 1973, we set out to help families that choose cremation for their final needs by providing a simple and affordable cremation service.
